You’ll Need the Right Supplies
You’ll need a few different supplies to deep clean your shower. It’s best to gather all of your supplies first and place them in a bucket or bin. You can clean your shower with baking soda and white vinegar, but when you haven’t cleaned it in a while, you’ll need some special tools.

You don’t have to purchase specific brushes. You can use what you have around the house, such as an old toothbrush for the grout. Once you have all your supplies, you can begin the cleaning process.
Clear Everything Out
Before you begin your cleaning, do be sure to clear everything out of the shower. Remove all accessories from the shower, including the shower caddy and all products. You then want to open any bathroom windows and turn on any bathroom fans.
If your bathroom doesn’t have a window or fan, then be sure to open any nearby windows and turn on nearby fans. You should also leave the bathroom door open while you clean. This will help prevent exposure to any chemicals you might be using.
It also helps dry the shower out faster, which will prevent mold and mildew from growing.
Clean From Top to Bottom
As you begin to clean, make sure you clean from the top of the shower and work your way down. One of the first things you can do is clean the showerhead. Place a plastic bag with white vinegar inside around the showerhead and tie it shut.

Remove the plastic bag and use a brush to scrub away any leftover mineral deposits.
Don’t Skip Over Hard-to-Reach Areas
The showerhead isn’t easy to forget because mineral deposits on it will show right at eye level. A big part of deep cleaning your shower though is remembering not to skip over the hard-to-reach areas. The tile, door tracks, and grout are all essential parts of the shower that need cleaning.
You can create a paste from baking soda and water. Use the paste to spread onto the tiles and grout. A foaming reaction may occur when the baking soda mixes with the vinegar.
Use a brush to scrub. You’ll then want to do the same for the shower tracks. After scrubbing, rinse.
Mildew and soap scum should rinse off.
Wash the Door and Then the Floor
You can rinse down the shower door with a white vinegar and water mixture. Take a squeeze brush if possible and use it to clean the shower door. You can run it under hot water first to help.
To dry the shower door, use a microfiber cloth. The shower curtain can be cleaned by simply placing it in the washing machine. Send it through a gentle cycle, and hang it to dry.
Avoid placing it in the dryer as this might cause damage to the curtain.
Spray the Shower Down After Each Use
Although any shower will need a good deep cleaning after a certain amount of time, it’s always a good idea to spray the shower down after each use. You can simply rinse it with water or use a product that allows you to spray the entire shower and then rinse off.
This is one of the best ways to prevent a build-up of soap scum on the walls and doors. It’s also a good idea to leave windows and doors open after your shower and turn on any fans. These simple steps will help speed up the drying process, which will prevent mold and mildew from growing.
